CEDAR RAPIDS — Tiffany O’Donnell, who handily won a runoff election Nov. 30, was officially sworn in to office Monday in a ceremony at City Hall.
O’Donnell, CEO of Women Lead Change and a former television news anchor, garnered the most votes in the four-way mayoral race Nov. 3. But she didn’t get the necessary 50 percent of the vote to win outright so advanced to a runoff against Amara Andrews. Incumbent Mayor Brad Hart failed to make the runoff.
O’Donnell is only the third woman to have served as mayor of Cedar Rapids. The last female mayor was Kay Halloran, who left office in 2010.

“If you thought you saw me a lot as a candidate, you’re going to see me even more as mayor,” O’Donnell told The Gazette after winning the runoff election.
