CEDAR RAPIDS — Mayor-elect Tiffany O’Donnell confirmed Friday she has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and said she is experiencing mild symptoms.
“While I am fully vaccinated, I haven’t yet received my booster,” O’Donnell said in a statement. “I will follow my doctor’s recommendations and get that as soon as I am fully recovered.”
O’Donnell, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 Thursday, said she is grateful to city staff for keeping the Cedar Rapids mayoral transition on schedule.

“We have moved some of my city council orientation activities to virtual following quarantine protocols,” O’Donnell said. “Their flexibility is much appreciated.”
She encouraged all who are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated.
“I’m sure that being vaccinated has made my illness much milder than it would have been otherwise,” O’Donnell said.
