Trump has killed satire

Two years ago, The Gazette ran my fanciful guest column “Planning for felon as president.” It was a playful poke at most Republicans’ preference for a crooked Donald Trump over the most law-abiding Democrat. It envisioned a re-elected Trump operating behind bars.
Last week, with the former president remaining the GOP’s runaway favorite for the 2024 nomination, a former Trump attorney predicted, “He will go to jail.” With that, I ask that the Gazette records keeper move my 2021 guest column from the parody file to standard commentary.
Trump has killed satire.
