Renewables power Iowa County

Since connecting power to our grid in 2020, the Diamond Trail Wind Project in Iowa County has played an integral role in our community’s economy.
Annual land lease payments in Iowa reached $68.2 million in 2021, boosting the incomes of farmers and landowners across the state — and right here in our backyard. The Diamond Trail Project provides our farmers and landowners with financial security in the face of floods, droughts, and other natural disasters.
Projects like Diamond Trail helped generate $57.2 million in state and local taxes in 2021. This local tax revenue goes toward funding our schools, infrastructure, and other much-needed projects.

The Duane Arnold Solar Project in Linn County has the potential to provide all of this and more should it go online. I encourage the Linn County Board of Supervisors to believe in the power of renewables and see this project through.
As a dairy farmer in Iowa County, I know the importance of property rights just as much as anyone else, but my land is my land — no one has the right to tell me what to do with it. If a renewable energy company came knocking on my door, I would accept the opportunity for the betterment of my land and my community.
