Jones County fair was great, Lee Brice was not

The Great Jones County Fair can hang on to its moniker for another year! Always a great place to spend a day and then add the evening's entertainment for a full day of fun! My wife and I went Friday, greatly anticipating a couple of favorite country stars. When the stars came out, we were met with a huge disappointment followed by a wonderful surprise!
Lee Brice opened the show. With a wonderful voice and powerful lyrics, he’s been a "bucket-lister" for some time. I couldn’t have been more disappointed in the sound quality. Excess volume was painful on the ears and completely drowned out his lyrics and the quality of his voice. At times, feedback from the stage forced me to put Kleenex in my ears to help with the pain. The sound mixer should be looking for a new job after that showing!
Following a much needed 30-minute break, we returned to the sounds of Brothers Osborne! Wow, what a difference in sound man! The music was toned down to a comfortable yet energetic level and the lyrics could be heard and enjoyed! Less is more when it comes to a venue that is so well suited and designed for quality sound. Kudos to the Jones County Fair Board for their work in securing excellent entertainment — keep ‘em coming and hopefully they get it figured out!
