Good job, IRS!

On Feb. 6, we completed our 2022 federal income tax return and mailed it to the IRS. On March 7, we were pleasantly surprised to find our tax refund electronically deposited in our checking account. Last year it took about five months. (We mailed the Iowa returns the same day, but haven’t seen that refund yet.)

The IRS received increased funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, giving it additional resources to do its work in an efficient, timely manner. That’s a good thing.

Thank you, President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress.
