Ferentz, Barta deserve our support

I have been reading the astonishingly unbelievable negative portrayal of our beloved football coach and our illustrious Athletic Director. As Administrator of the department of Orthopedic Surgery for over 30 years, I interacted frequently with Coach Ferentz and AD Barta. I was impressed with their integrity and professionalism.

As the organizer of the Ponseti Races to help children suffering from the club foot deformity, I asked Coach Ferentz to join Dr. Ernie Found to serve as honorary chair of the Ponseti races. Without hesitation, he promptly accepted. Every year, they both served in this role faithfully and enthusiastically. Often Coach Ferentz invited football players to participate in the races.

In my interactions with Coach Ferentz and AD Barta, they always exhibited integrity, kindness and compassion. Their values were honorable and decent.

In light of the recent criticism of these great leaders, we need to uplift them and support them.
