Once the dust settled, I called for the man. He didn’t answer and I made myself think he was OK, even if he wasn’t.
I sprinted for the door and ran out into the open. The people in the village stared in shock at the ruins of the palace, whispering, “How did this happen?” Truthfully, I didn’t know. All I knew was the queen was in my world and I had no idea where to go from here.
I bit my lip. Should I just go back to the beach and regroup before looking for clues to where the queen might be?

At that moment, people started screaming and running from the palace. I spun around, certain that more of the building was falling, but I was knocked to the ground by a man in all black clothing holding a sword.
I kicked him in the face and rolled away, ready to bolt back to the beach, but he grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder.
I screamed and tried to jump back to the ground, but his grip was too strong. A punch I threw connected with his nose and he nearly dropped me. He regained his balance and made sure I was not positioned in a way I could punch him anymore.
I screamed again but everybody had fled. My captor ran to a circle of blinding light that looked suspiciously like a portal from a fantasy movie and jumped in. Everything went dark.
I searched and searched with my eyes but I could not see anything. I only knew I was alive because I could feel the man beneath me.
When our portal trip was over, we landed in a small, dark room with a chair in a corner, holding what looked like another person.
The man threw me to the stone ground and I fell hard. I jumped up and pounded on the walls, hoping for some way to get out. When I turned around, I found the man speaking smugly to me.
“You’re trapped,” he mouthed. “I will conquer the Dark Land with nobody to stop me.”
You decide: What happens next?
A. The man leaves, and Liliana hatches a plan to escape with the mysterious person in the corner
B. Liliana looks to the mysterious person in the corner for help, then realizes it’s someone from her past.
