David Tominsky named Cedar Rapids school board president
He succeeds Nancy Humbles; Cindy Garlock to be board vice president

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids school board has unanimously named David Tominsky as its next president. .
Tominsky, the chief relationship officer at NewBoCo, was first elected to the school board in 2019 and was serving as vice president. His term expires on 2023.
Cindy Garlock, first elected to the board in 2019, was named board vice president.

Tominsky thanked his fellow board members for trusting him with the responsibility of school board president.
“I look forward to our continued service together,” he said.
The previous board president was Nancy Humbles, who was re-elected for her fourth term Nov. 2.
Tominsky said he had enjoyed having Humbles as a mentor and serving under her board leadership the past few years.
“This entire community has been through so much, and to see your leadership through the pandemic, the derecho and so many other things, I’ve learned a lot from you, and I do appreciate your leadership,” Tominsky told Humbles.
The board president and vice president are each elected to a one-year term.
