Cedar Rapids schools last day June 2

Students will get out of school one day earlier than initially planned with weather makeup days

CEDAR RAPIDS — The last day of school for students in the Cedar Rapids Community School District is Friday, June 2, one school day earlier initially planned.

The last day of school will be a normal Friday early dismissal, according to a news release from the district Thursday. Students will not have to report to school on Monday, June 5.

Schools are required by Iowa law to have 1,080 student contact hours. Cedar Rapids students will have met this minimum requirement by June 2, according to the news release.

Initially, the last day of school was planned for Monday, June 5, to account for weather-related cancellations. Other weather makeup dates were Feb. 27, May 31 and June 1.
