AMES — Cameron Lard is transferring from Iowa State, he and Coach Steve Prohm announced Tuesday.
Lard, a 6-foot-9, redshirt sophomore forward, averaged 5.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 24 games this season.
'I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the Cyclone family and will never forget the memories made with my teammates,' Lard said in a release. 'I can't thank Coach Prohm and Iowa State enough for what they've done for me. Thank you also to Cyclone Nation for all of your support.'
Lard was suspended for the first seven games of the 2018-19 season, then again for the March 2 game against Texas. He had entered a "wellness program" and was away from the team over the summer.
The suspensions added to a disappointing season for Lard a year after he averaged 12.6 points and 8.1 rebounds as a redshirt freshman.
'We appreciate the efforts that Cameron gave to our program during his time with us,' Prohm said. 'Cameron has made great strides and we certainly wish him well in the future. We will continue to help him in any way we can.'
The Cyclones return starting forward Michael Jacobson next season plus Solomon Young, who sat out most of this season with injury, and promising freshman George Conditt IV.
