CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Xavier senior-to-be Jackson Joens has decided to play college basketball at Upper Iowa, he said Friday afternoon on Twitter.
A 6-foot-6 wing, Joens averaged 11.6 points per game this past season for Xavier, which won its second consecutive Class 3A state championship. He led the Saints in 3-pointers, making 45.2 percent of them (56 of 124).
Joens will be one of the key returnees this coming season for Xavier, as it seeks a three-peat. Point guard Matt Mims also comes back.
