The quarterfinals are a wrap after a day full of single-digit Class 4A games at the boys' state basketball tournament.

No. 2 West Des Moines Valley 57, No. 7 Des Moines North 55
Charley Crowley's dunk with 3.0 seconds remaining off a feed from Nate Dennis sent defending champion Valley to a semifinal matchup with Sioux City East.
Crowley finished with 20 points and seven rebounds while fellow post Quinton Curry totaled 17 points and 13 boards.
Point guard Tyreke Locure led North with 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists. His desperation 3 at the buzzer was off the mark.
The Tigers led 55-50 with 1:51 to go before a Jaihon McCaleb 3-pointer, James Deng steal and Locure layup tied it.

No. 6 Sioux City East 61, No. 3 Bettendorf 53
Sioux City East started the third quarter on a 7-0 run to go up 47-41 and made 24 of 27 free throws to hold off Bettendorf.
Van Rees had a game-high 25 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Black Raiders, who were up 27-20 at the half.
Aidan Vanderloo added 18 for East. J. Michael Young led Bettendorf with 20, while D.J. Carton contributed 12.
The Bulldogs were 7-of-15 from 3-point range, but got to the line only 10 times, making eight.
No. 5 Cedar Rapids Kennedy 55, No. 4 Dubuque Hempstead 47
Kennedy looked buried in the first half, falling behind 32-11, but turned that around with a 22-2 run into the third quarter.
The Cougars outscored Hempstead 19-2 in the third to go up 39-36 and they never trailed in the fourth.
Four Cougars scored in double figures, led by 14 apiece from Derrick Diggins and Jackson Foley. Drake Brewster had 13 and Malik Haynes 10 as Kennedy overturned a 51-44 regular-season loss to the Mustangs.
Curtis Martin III led Hempstead with 19 points, 17 of which came in the first half.
No. 1 Iowa City West 57, No. 8 Newton 51
Perennial power West got a battle from the Cardinals.
An 8-0 run to end the first half put Newton up 30-28, and the Cardinals led 45-43 going to the fourth.
West outscored Newton 9-2 in the first six-plus minutes of the fourth and hung on. Devontae Lane and Connor McCaffery each had 18 points for the Trojans.
Connor Gholson (24) and Garrett Sturtz (20) combined for 44 of the Cardinals' 51. Newton had eight turnovers in the second half after just two in the first.
