Mount Vernon senior Austin Ash has accepted a preferred walk-on spot at Iowa, he announced Saturday on Twitter.
The 6-2 guard led the Mustangs (17-6) with 16.0 points per game last season on 48.1 percent shooting, including 42.6 percent from the 3-point line.
Ash tested himself against college competition this summer, participating in the Prime Time League with Iowa, UNI and area small-college players.

'My head coach talked to me about playing in it,' Ash said in July. 'It sounded like it'd be a good idea playing with these college guys. It's a good experience for me.'
Proud to announce that I will be attending Iowa next year to continue my education and basketball career! #gohawks pic.twitter.com/3iyu5RuDFk
