Iowa colleges - Jimmy Cunningham of Cedar Rapids (Kennedy) and C.J. Cliff of Decorah earned their second varsity letters as members of the Central men's tennis team ... Bryan Forbes of Lone Tree earned NAIA honorable mention All-American honors and was named first-team all-Great Plains Athletic Conference in men's basketball at Briar Cliff. He also GPAC defensive player of the year ... Lance Evans of Solon was named academic all-district by CoSIDA as a member of the Wartburg wrestling team ... Pitcher Seth Eash of Kalona (Mid-Prairie) earned the Versteeg Award for leadership, scholarship and sportsmanship during the Central baseball team banquet. Spencer Gritsch of Brooklyn (BGM) earned his fourth varsity letter, Zachary Brown of Cedar Rapids (Xavier) and Michael Reuter of Monticello their third ... Coe's Brady Anderson of Cedar Rapids (Linn-Mar) was named Iowa Conference player of the year and earned academic all-district honors from CoSIDA in men's tennis. Teammate Riley Galbraith of Cedar Rapids (Kennedy) earned first-team honors, along with Luther's Kyle Appel and Trent Schneider of Coralville (I.C. West), and Wartburg's Brandon Hornback of Cedar Rapids (Marion) ... Emily Watson of Cedar Rapids (Jefferson) earned her second varsity letter as a member of the Central softball team ... Issac Holtz of Monticello won the discus and Jake Humpal of Decorah placed eighth at the Missouri Valley Conference track and field meet, helping the Panther men to a third-place finish ... Megan Bonnett of North Liberty (I.C. Regina) is a member of the Luther softball team, which is playing in the NCAA Super Regional this weekend ... Sydney Roberston of Shellsburg (Vinton-Shellburg) is a member of the DMACC softball team that is playing in the NJCAA II national tournament this weekend ... UNI junior Brette Correy of Epworth (Western Dubuque) finished third in the 1,500 meters and Chloe Schmidt of Norway (Benton Community) was second in the discus at the Missouri Valley Conference track and field meet, helping the Panther women to a runner-up finish.
