2nd all-day boys' hoops event planned at U.S. Cellular Center

CEDAR RAPIDS — One all-day boys' basketball event at the U.S. Cellular Center is not enough.

Organizer Tyler Cleveland announced a second Wells Fargo Advisors Shootout has been added, this one January 13, 2018. It will feature six games.

The first Wells Fargo Advisors Shootout was announced this past winter and will consist of seven games at The Cell. That one is January 20.

The new Shootout will begin at 10:15 as Tipton and Northeast Goose Lake play what also will be a River Valley Conference game. At approximately noon, North Linn will take on Maquoketa Valley in a Tri-Rivers Conference affair.

Then it's a Wamac Conference game between Williamsburg and Benton Community at 1:45, followed by non-conference games between LaPorte City Union and Waterloo West (3:30 p.m.), Marion and Cedar Rapids Jefferson (5:15 p.m.) and Cedar Rapids Xavier and Perry (7 p.m.).

Xavier is the only school playing in both shootouts. It will play Solon on January 20.

'We are very excited about the addition of this event, and are extremely proud of both events and the field of teams that we have committed,' Cleveland said. 'Overall, we will play 13 games in two weekends, providing the corridor with some great basketball. I hope to continue to build on these events, and the opportunities are endless. Cedar Rapids is such a great place to host a top of the line boys' basketball event, and it is about time we got some headliner events at a great venue like the U.S. Cellular Center.'

Saturday, January 20

8:30 a.m. — Cedar Rapids Xavier vs. Solon

10:15 a.m. — Cascade vs. Osage

12 p.m. — Mount Pleasant vs. Charles City

1:45 p.m. — Waverly-Shell Rock vs. West Delaware

3:30 p.m. — Linn-Mar vs. Western Dubuque

5:15 p.m. — Cedar Rapids Kennedy vs. Sioux City East

7 p.m. — Iowa City West vs. Cedar Rapids Prairie

Saturday January 13

10:15 a.m. — Tipton vs. Northeast Goose Lake

12 p.m. — North Linn vs. Maquoketa Valley

1:45 p.m. — Williamsburg vs. Benton Community

3:30 p.m. — LaPorte City Union vs. Waterloo West
