23 area players will take part in Shrine Bowl

CEDAR FALLS — Twenty-three former Gazette-area preps will battle on the UNI-Dome turf Saturday as part of the Iowa Shrine Bowl all-star football game.
The game kicks off at 4 p.m.
The South team has 13 area players, including Jacob Adam and Phil Arendt of Iowa City Regina and Ben Boldt and Jomaryon Simpson of Cedar Rapids Prairie. Other area players on the South roster are Vance Bohlen of Belle Plaine, John Milani of Iowa City West, Jackson Subbert of Williamsburg, Josh Hof of Mount Vernon, Jacob Giese of West Branch, Logan Linderbaum of Solon, Ian Slagle of South Tama, Drew Wagner of Clear Creek Amana and Noah Sander of North Cedar.

Former Prairie coach Mike Morrissey is listed as a South assistant to Wade King of Davenport Assumption.
The North squad includes Metro players Ryan Schmidt of Linn-Mar, Terrence Hall of Kennedy, Julian Good-Jones of Washington and Tim Otting of Xavier. They are joined by Nate Bergfeld of Cascade, Jordan Rommes of South Winneshiek, Brent Lammers of West Delaware, Ryan Parmely of Maquoketa Valley, Jacob Leeps of Decorah and Colton Lueck of Dyersville Beckman.
Decorah's Bill Post is an assistant coach to Scott Frerichs of New Hampton.
