2017-18 Boys' basketball: Prep Hoops Iowa preseason rankings

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Gazette is going to take at least a couple of weeks to compile its first boys' basketball rankings of the season. We are not affiliated with Associated Press, so we do our own each season.

To give you an indication of who might have strong clubs this season, here are preseason rankings from the Prep Hoops Iowa website.

CLASS 4A — 1. Iowa City West, 2. Sioux City East, 3. Dubuque Senior, 4. Cedar Falls, 5. West Des Moines Valley, 6. Waukee, 7. Pleasant Valley, 8. Dubuque Hempstead, 9. Linn-Mar, 10. Des Moines Hoover.

CLASS 3A — 1. Cedar Rapids Xavier, 2. Mount Pleasant, 3. Glenwood, 4. Sioux City Heelan, 5. Oskaloosa, 6. Davenport Assumption, 7. Charles City, 8. Norwalk, 9. Waverly-Shell Rock, 10. Spirit Lake.

CLASS 2A — 1. Van Meter, 2. Cascade, 3. Sioux Center, 4. Sheldon, 5. West Lyon, 6. Western Christian, 7. Forest City, 8. East Marshall, 9. Aplington-Parkersburg, 10. Rock Valley.

CLASS 1A — 1. Grand View Christian, 2. North Linn, 3. Council Bluffs St. Albert, 4. Lynnville-Sully, 5. LeMars Gehlen, 6. Remsen St. Mary's, 7. George-Little Rock, 8. Wapsie Valley, 9. New London, 10. Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto.
