A thin Iowa wide receiver position is getting thinner.
Iowa wide receiver Arland Bruce IV plans to enter the transfer portal, he said in a tweet Friday morning.
He is the second Iowa wide receiver to announce plans to transfer since the conclusion of the 2022 season, joining Keagan Johnson. Since the start of the 2021 season, six Iowa wide receivers have entered the portal.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself and built bonds that will truly last a lifetime,” Bruce said in the tweet. “After much thought and prayer, I am entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.”
Bruce quickly developed at Iowa, making his first career start as a true freshman and recording 25 receptions for 209 yards in 2021. He had 19 receptions for 187 yards as a sophomore in 2022.
Bruce’s departure leaves Iowa with three scholarship players returning — Diante Vines, Brody Brecht and Jacob Bostick — in 2023 and three incoming scholarship freshmen. Nico Ragaini could be a fourth returning scholarship player if he uses his extra COVID-19 year of eligibility.
Iowa already made a splash in the transfer portal with the commitment of former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara. Wide receiver is a top need now for the Hawkeyes as the transfer portal window officially opens on Monday.
