Iowa quarterback Carson May enters transfer portal
May did not see game action in one season in Iowa City

IOWA CITY — Iowa quarterback Carson May has entered the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday morning on social media.
May, a true freshman, was Iowa’s No. 4 quarterback during the regular season and No. 2 quarterback in the Music City Bowl. He did not see any game action.
The Jones, Okla., native would potentially hve been the No. 3 quarterback in 2023 behind Cade McNamara and Joe Labas. McNamara has two years of eligibility remaining, and Labas has three.

McNamara is a former third-team all-Big Ten honoree, and Labas was 14-of-24 with a touchdown in his first career start in last week’s Music City Bowl.
Iowa also will have Marco Lainez, a three-star quarterback, arriving as a true freshman in the summer.
As a recruit, May had a three-star rating from 247Sports and a four-star rating from Rivals. He also had offers from Western Michigan and Old Dominion.
May has four years of eligibility remaining.
