Mike Hlas — I needed directions to Rutgers the last time I was in Jersey. “Piscataway?” I asked a guy. “Attaway,” he pointed. Iowa 18, Rutgers 6
John Steppe — One more lightning delay last week, and maybe I would’ve seen sunrise from the Kinnick press box. Iowa 16, Rutgers 7
Jeff Johnson — Didn’t make it until the actual end of last week’s Iowa-Nevada game. Fell asleep around midnight. And I’m more than OK with that. Iowa 20, Rutgers 10
Rob Gray — The Hawkeyes rank 124th nationally in scoring offense at 13.7 points per game. The Scarlet Knights are a more respectable 56th — but that ranking is inflated by a 66-7 shellacking of Wagner. Take that out, and Rutgers averages just 19 points in narrow wins over Temple and Boston College. Iowa punts less and scores more, leaving Piscataway with a coveted win in the New York City metropolitan area media market. Iowa 17, Rutgers 13
Beth Malicki — The Hannan family of Marion stayed until the end of that epically long Iowa game. This family of six tackles everything with gusto, including amusement parks where they insist on being the first ones inside and the last to leave. They go HARD in a way that kind of scares me but mostly inspires. Iowa 17, Rutgers 13
Todd Brommelkamp — The football equivalent of the phrase “A face only a mother could love.” Iowa 16, Rutgers 9
