Former Iowa offensive lineman Robert Gallery has been named to the 2023 class of the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced Monday afternoon.
Gallery was a consensus All-American at Iowa and won the Outland Trophy, which goes to the best interior lineman on offense or defense in college football. After his Iowa career, he was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft.
In his three full seasons as a starter on the offensive line, Iowa was 28-10 overall and 17-7 in Big Ten action. The Masonville native was a part of the 2001 season that ended with Kirk Ferentz’s first bowl win as head coach and Iowa’s 2002 Big Ten co-championship.

The official induction of the 2023 class into the College Football Hall of Fame will be on Dec. 5. Others in the 18-member 2023 class include former USC running back Reggie Bush, former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and former Wisconsin defensive back Troy Vincent.
Gallery is Iowa’s 11th former player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame because of their playing career and 13th former player to be inducted in any capacity.
Former Iowa coaches Hayden Fry, Forest Evashevski, Eddie Anderson, Slip Madigan and Howard Jones also are in the Hall of Fame.
