Maybe it’s fitting that Cooper Koch committed to the Iowa men’s basketball program on the day of the NBA draft.
Koch’s father, J.R. Koch, played for Iowa from 1995-1999 and was a 1999 draftee of the New York Knicks before he played several seasons overseas.
Cooper Koch is a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward from Peoria (Ill.) Notre Dame High School. He averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds as a sophomore. He is the first verbal commitment to Fran McCaffery’s 2024 recruiting class.

Koch had offers from Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Wisconsin, among others.
