Desmond Bane averaged 18.2 points for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies in the 2021-22 season. Here’s what he tweeted about Keegan Murray’s NBA Summer League debut:
OK, Murray wasn’t facing the NBA-champion Golden State Warriors Saturday in San Francisco.
Instead, it was a collection of players wearing Golden State jerseys who weren’t on the Warriors’ roster in 2021-22.

Nonetheless, Murray put on a show against the Warriors in the Kings’ first game of the NBA’s California Classic Summer League.
Murray, the No. 4 pick in last month’s NBA draft, scored a game-high 26 points and had eight rebounds in 28 minutes in Sacramento’s 86-68 win. He was 10 of 14 from the field, 4 of 5 from 3-point range, and made no turnovers.
He sank a corner 3-pointer in the first minute and was off and running.
“The confidence grew throughout the game and my teammates kept giving me the ball," Murray said.
“I think the kid is very special,” said Kings Summer League head coach Jordi Fernandez.
Murray signed his contract with the Kings Saturday. The contract slot for the NBA’s No. 4 pick is a two-year, $16 million deal that includes two team options, maxing the deal through the 2025-26 season at $35 million.
Murray’s shooting wasn’t nearly as good Sunday in the Kings’ 81-64 win over the Miami Heat. He was 4-of-15 from the field, 1-of-7 from 3-point range, and had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 6 turnovers in 31 minutes.
Sacramento plays the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday in San Francisco, then heads to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
