Best Bets: Draw Me a Zoo Free Family Fun Day

The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is opening the gates to its literary zoo, for a free day of family fun. The all-ages event celebrates the opening of the museum’s newest exhibit, “If We Ran the Zoo: Animals in Children’s Book Illustration.” Stroll among more than 60 fanciful artworks in three main-floor galleries, on loan from the Cedar Rapids Public Library’s Zerzanek Collection of Original Art from Children’s Literature. Activities include animal-themed art projects, scavenger hunts, balloon animals, art tools “petting zoo” and an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog.
