Over 17 percent of Johnson County adults vaccinated for COVID-19

Iowa added 516 new COVID-19 cases and 15 confirmed deaths Tuesday.
The new numbers bring the state's coronavirus totals to 340,000 cases and 5,574 deaths, according to Iowa Department of Public Health data. Iowa's seven-day average is 463.
The new virus cases come from 19,809 tests in the 24-hour period ending at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

NEW CASES
Linn County added 13 cases for a total of 19,531. The county's seven-day average is 14, the lowest its been since last July.
Johnson County also added 13 cases, bringing its total to 13,192. The county's seven-day average is 15.
Of the new cases across the state, 80 were children up to age 17, raising that group's total to 38,587.
CONFIRMED DEATHS
The newly reported deaths took place between Jan. 18 and March 6.
Of Tuesday's reported deaths, four people were over the age of 80, 10 were 61 to 80 and one was 41 to 60.
Linn, Clinton, Polk and Tama counties reported two deaths each. Counties with one death each were: Johnson, Butler, Clarke, Grundy, Louisa, Palo Alto and Pottawattamie.
VACCINATIONS
As of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, 916,360 total COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Iowa, with 883,181 doses going to Iowa residents.
The number of people with their first dose only was 328,748 as of Tuesday afternoon, and 293,783 people have completed a vaccination series.
In Linn County, the total of doses administered was 68,856 on Tuesday, with 24,164 people, or 13.86 percent of the county's adult population, having completed a vaccination.
In Johnson County, the total of doses administered was 56,561, with 20,633 people, or 17.03 percent of the county's adult population, having completed a vaccination.
HOSPITALIZATIONS
Across the state, hospitalizations rose from 168 to 179 in the 24-hour period ending at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Patients in intensive care dropped from 37 to 33, and patients on ventilators went from seven to nine.
LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES
Nine of Iowa's long-term care facilities still are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks, according to IDPH data. Within those facilities, 128 people were positive with the virus as of Tuesday afternoon.
Since the start of the pandemic a year ago, 2,194 people within facilities have died due to the virus.
