Iowa football picked up another commitment in the 2023 recruiting class over the last week while missing out on another two 2023 prospects and offering several more recruits.
Here are the highlights of Iowa’s recent recruiting activity:
Committed
Zach Lutmer, a 2023 defensive back from Rock Rapids and Central Lyon High School, committed to the Hawkeyes on May 13. He has a three-star rating from 247Sports although Rivals has not rated him yet. He also had offers from South Dakota and South Dakota State.

Lutmer’s commitment came one day after Iowa offered him. He is the third in-state recruit in the 2023 class to choose Iowa, joining Marion’s Alex Mota and Norwalk’s Maddux Borcherding-Johnson.
Committed elsewhere
Tyler Gant, a three-star defensive lineman from St. Louis, picked Northwestern over Iowa. Rivals ranked Gant as the 26th-best defensive tackle in the 2023 class.
Gant took three unofficial visits to Iowa, per Rivals, which is tied with Wisconsin for the most out of any school. Iowa already has two defensive linemen committed in the 2023 class.
Michael Kilbane also picked the Windy City over Iowa City. The 2023 linebacker — he has a three-star rating from 247Sports and four-star rating from Rivals — also had offers from Penn State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Kentucky and Cincinnati, among other schools.
Both Kilbane and Gant committed after taking official visits to Northwestern.
Offers
Class of 2023 offensive lineman Miles Walker received an offer from Iowa on Wednesday. Walker has a three-star rating from Rivals, but no rating from 247Sports. The Greenwich, Conn., prospect also has offers from Maryland, Boston College, Syracuse and Pitt, among other schools.
Kade McIntyre, a three-star athlete in the 2023 class from Freemont, Neb., picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes on Monday. He also has offers from Minnesota and Kansas State.
In-state 2023 athlete Aidan Hall of Harlan received an offer from the Hawkeyes on May 13 — his first offer from a Power Five school. Four days later, Minnesota joined that list. His other offers include North Dakota State, Northern Iowa and South Dakota. He has a three-star rating from 247Sports although Rivals has not given him a star rating yet.
Ja’Keem Jackson, a 6-foot-1 cornerback from Kissimmee, Fla., earned an offer from Iowa on May 13. The 2023 prospect, a three-star prospect and the 51st-best corner in 247Sports’ composite rankings, has plenty of suitors.
Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn and Florida State are among the schools to already have offered him. He received a scholarship offer from Iowa State in January.
Class of 2023 safety Zachary Tobe received an offer from Iowa on May 13. The three-star prospect from Ocoee, Fla., also has offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Mississippi State, Iowa State and other Power Five programs.
Tobe said in a March tweet he plans to announce his commitment on July 7.
Bo Mascoe, Jackson’s teammate at Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Fla., received an offer from Iowa on May 13. Rivals has not given a star rating to the 5-foot-11 cornerback, but 247Sports considers him a three-star recruit. Mascoe’s other offers include Rutgers, Western Kentucky and Miami (Ohio).
Mascoe scheduled an official visit to Iowa for the last weekend of June.
Other visits scheduled
Jaron Tibbs, a three-star 2023 wide receiver from Indianapolis, joined the already-lengthy list of 2023 prospects with plans to officially visit the Hawkeyes June 24-26.
Christopher Terek, a 2023 offensive lineman who received an offer from Iowa earlier this month, told Rivals he also will be at Iowa for the last weekend in June.
