The most notable is undoubtedly Kadyn Proctor, the five-star offensive lineman who recently canceled his official visits to Michigan, Penn State and Oregon and narrowed his list to Iowa and Alabama.
Other key targets include linebacker Asa Newsom, offensive lineman Trevor Lauck and defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert.
Many already-committed 2023 recruits also plan to officially visit this weekend, including quarterback Marco Lainez, linebacker Aidan Hall and wide receiver Alex Mota.
Looking back, here are the commitments involving Iowa targets and other recruiting notes over the last week:
Committed to Iowa
Class of 2023 offensive lineman Cannon Leonard committed to the Hawkeyes on Tuesday afternoon. Leonard, who has a three-star rating from Rivals and a two-star rating from 247Sports, also had offers from Northern Illinois, Army, Northern Iowa and others.
The Gilman, Ill., prospect committed to the Hawkeyes one day after receiving his offer from Iowa.
Committed elsewhere
Class of 2023 linebacker Hayden Moore committed to Nebraska over Iowa and other schools Tuesday night. The three-star prospect’s other offers included UCLA, Michigan and Texas Tech. He unofficially visited Iowa in March.
Wide receiver Andre Davis committed to Kansas State over the weekend. The three-star 2023 prospect from Overland Park, Kan., was scheduled to visit Iowa this weekend, per 247Sports. His other suitors included Iowa State, Nebraska and Illinois.
Carnell Tate, a five-star wide receiver who received an offer from Iowa in Sept. 2020, committed to Ohio State on Monday. Iowa did not appear to be in the running for a while, though.
Linebacker C.J. Allen committed to Georgia over a litany of other Power Five schools, including Iowa. He had a three-star rating from Rivals.
Other recruiting notes
- Other than Leonard’s offer, which quickly turned into a commitment, Iowa did not give out any other scholarship offers.
- In-state 2023 tight end Jalyn Thompson received a preferred walk-on opportunity from Iowa. The West Des Moines Dowling prospect has offers from FCS-level Northern Iowa, Howard and Lindenwood.
