IOWA CITY — Iowa wide receiver and punt/kick returner Charlie Jones will use his extra year of eligibility to stay with the Hawkeyes, he announced Thursday.
“I have unfinished business to accomplish and look forward to achieving my goals with this team,” Jones said in a graphic posted on the team’s social media accounts.
Jones’ return will give a significant boost to the Hawkeyes’ offense and special teams.
The Buffalo transfer gave Iowa plenty of electrifying punt and kickoff returns in 2020 and 2021, including a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in 2021 against Illinois.
Jones also had an impact on Iowa’s offense in 2021, catching 21 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns.
