IOWA CITY — It is Finals Week at Central Michigan University. Molly Davis has one exam today, a couple more coming up.
Then her mind can shift completely to the future.
“I’m just looking forward to coming in and working hard,” said Davis, who will transfer to the University of Iowa women’s basketball program next season. “I want to take advantage of every opportunity I get.”

A 5-foot-7 point guard from Midland, Mich., with two years of eligibility remaining, Davis announced her commitment Thursday on social media.
She chose the Hawkeyes after four visits — to Iowa, Michigan State, Bowling Green and Minnesota.
“Iowa is a great community, and I’m so thankful to Coach (Lisa) Bluder for this opportunity,” Davis said.
“I’m so thankful for the relationships I built in three years at Central Michigan, for my coaches and teammates for welcoming me. It was an amazing three years.
“To leave, it is one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make, but I had to do what’s best for my future.”
Davis and Central Michigan faced Iowa in the first round of the 2021 NCAA tournament in the San Antonio bubble. The Hawkeyes won, 87-72, despite 18 points, six rebounds and five steals by Davis.
The Chippewas fell hard last season, though, compiling a 4-25 record. Davis averaged 18.6 points per game, and scored 1,438 points at CMU.
At Iowa, Davis is likely to be the primary backup to All-American Caitlin Clark at point guard, and can play off the ball as well. She adds depth to a backcourt that also includes starters Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, reserve Kylie Feuerbach and newcomer Taylor McCabe.
Davis’ arrival means that Iowa will have a full roster of 15 players in 2022-23.
Iowa was 24-8 last season, sharing the Big Ten regular-season championship and winning the Big Ten tournament. The Hawkeyes were upset in the second round of the NCAA tournament by Creighton.
“I know they have high goals for next year, and I’m willing to help them reach those goals any way I can,” Davis said.
