Hawkeyes improve to 4-4 in Big Ten with most one-sided conference win

IOWA CITY — Iowa defeated Penn State in men’s basketball Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, 68-51.
The Hawkeyes evened their Big Ten record at 4-4 and improved their overall mark to 14-5. Penn State is 3-5 and 8-8.
Keegan Murray led Iowa with 15 points. Kris Murray had 13, Patrick McCaffery and Jordan Bohannon 11.

Iowa led 30-25 at halftime despite being out-rebounded, 22-10, with eight of Penn State’s boards on the offensive glass. The Hawkeyes, however, finished with a 36-35 rebounding edge.
The Nittany Lions had 13 of their 17 turnovers in the first half.
Iowa led by just three points early in the second half, but that was as close as Penn State would get from there.
Penn State shot just 33.3 percent from the field. Iowa made 40.7 of its field goal attempts.
Iowa’s next game is at home against Purdue Thursday at 8 p.m.
