I am honored to be seeking re-election for Marion City Council. I was appointed to the City Council in 2016 and elected in 2017 to serve in one of three at-large positions.
My wife and I are longtime residents of Marion, where we have raised our children and grew our insurance business over the past 25 years. Being in civic roles such as an on-call firefighter, chair of the Marion Firefighters Association, Local Option Sales Tax Oversight Committee member and chair of the Marion Chamber Ambassadors, I have learned that community service is my passion.
As a Certified Elected Municipal Official, I am active in the Iowa League of Cities. I also serve on Marion’s Hotel-Motel Tax Review Board and our Investment Oversight and Marion Airport Advisory Committees, and I am a representative on the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization. This experience enables me to bring meaningful perspectives to council proceedings. Notably, I visit our Statehouse, working alongside representatives to address critical issues and fund community needs.

Being in the insurance industry has exposed me to the risks and challenges experienced by our residents, business owners and senior citizens. Understanding this helps me be of enhanced service to the City Council.
Thankfully we have many positive projects and programs underway and forthcoming. Hiring and onboarding our next city manager and starting work on our upcoming budget are at the top of our “to-do” list while maintaining oversight of the vital projects currently underway. Helping our current projects to be successful while fostering an environment to develop the community’s future vision is foremost in my mind.
Importantly, my re-election to the City Council will offer stability in this pivotal time. I look forward to applying my deep civic background to support the introduction of our new city manager.
