The final numbers aren't in, but turnout appears to be up for a midterm election in Johnson County.
According to a report by the Johnson County Auditor's Office, 89,532 residents have registered to vote in this election and a total of 5,426 have already voted.
'Compare to 3,950 same time 2014,” tweeted Johnson County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Travis Weipert.

Despite a new state law that shortens the time frame for early voting by 11 days, roughly the same number of early votes have been cast.
Polls are open today from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
