MARION - The Marion Public Library announced Friday it is closing its Uptown Marion branch for two weeks because of an uptick of COVID-19 cases in Linn County.
The closure is a way to minimize potential community spread, a news release said.
The Uptown Marion branch, at 1064 Seventh Ave., is expected to reopen Nov. 21, but the city of Marion will continue to monitor virus activity in the coming weeks, the release said.
The library's technology station at the Marion Columbus Club, 5650 Kacena Ave., remains open. The location has computers, printers and the Iowa Department of Transportation kiosk.
Library materials can be returned to any library in the Metro Library Network or to dropboxes at Hy-Vee stores.
Library staff can be reached by phone and all online services are still available.
The two Cedar Rapids public libraries - at 450 Fifth Ae. SE and 3750 Williams Blvd. SW - are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with curbside pickup available. The libraries are closed on Sundays.
The Hiawatha Public Library is closed but offers curbside service.
