Tree stumps are seen in the woods at Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center in Hiawatha on April 7, 2021. The 70-acre property lost 800 to 1,000 trees in the 2020 derecho. The center began replanting oak trees in the spring. ITC Midwest has announced it has committed $10,000 to Hiawatha and $40,000 to Marion to aid their tree replanting efforts. (The Gazette)

The company, with headquarters in Cedar Rapids, has committed $40,000 to Marion and $10,000 to Hiawatha to help replant the canopies that were lost in the 2020 derecho.

In both cities, the funding will be used to buy new trees for derecho-damaged areas in public parks and recreational areas across the city.
In November, ITC Midwest gave $200,000 to the ReLeaf Program, a public-private partnership between nonprofit Trees Forever and the city of Cedar Rapids.
In 2020 and 2021, according to ITC Midwest, the company has provided $500,000 in funding to support COVID-19 pandemic and derecho disaster relief to various organizations throughout its service territory. Through its Charitable Giving Program, ITC Midwest supports organizations that make a positive social impact and improve the quality of life in the communities the company serves.
