These satellite images from Google Earth show the drastic change in what Cedar Rapids and Marion looked like before and after the Aug. 10, 2020, derecho.
Linn County lost 1 million trees in the derecho, with 669,000 trees destroyed in Cedar Rapids, according to ReLeaf Cedar Rapids officials working to replant the lost tree canopy.
