‘One Year After: The Derecho Remembrance Exhibit’ at CSPS Hall through Oct. 10

Exhibit shows Aug. 10, 2020, derecho’s impact through images from Gazette photojournalists, community contributors

The Gazette, in partnership with CSPS and supported by West Bend, presents a powerful derecho remembrance exhibit at CSPS Hall in the NewBo district.

The Gazette’s photojournalists along with CSPS executive director Taylor Bergen began exploring a partner exhibit in May, with a goal to feature the impact of the 2020 derecho through multiple platforms and interpretations-from the first gust of wind to the recovery that continues today.

The Derecho Remembrance Exhibit is a collection of powerful images along with community contributions from area artists, threading together the story of a historic natural disaster and its significant impact to a community’s physical landscape and the people within.

One Year After: The Derecho Remembrance Exhibit

Where: CSPS Hall, 1103 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids

When: Opening night reception 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19. Exhibit runs through Oct. 10. Open during CSPS business hours, noon to 6 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
