See the newest Iowa business registrations from the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City region

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate on Wednesday announced Iowans had registered the highest number of new business entities in state history during the 2022 fiscal year — 33,331, which broke the previous record of 33,260 set last year.

In a news release, Pate said, “Despite rising inflation and supply chain disruptions, this data shows Iowa entrepreneurs are investing in businesses in our state,”
and
“I’m very proud of the work we’ve done to make it faster and easier than ever to launch a new business in Iowa.”

For the most recent fiscal year, 3,172 new businesses from Linn County and Johnson County were registered, according to the Active Iowa Business Entities dataset at Iowa.gov:

  • 347 in July 2021
  • 286 in August 2021
  • 258 in September 2021
  • 217 in October 2021
  • 215 in November 2021
  • 265 in December 2021
  • 301 in January 2022
  • 250 in February 2022
  • 303 in March 2022
  • 261 in April 2022
  • 234 in May 2022
  • 235 in June 2022
