Brock Purdy admitted at the NFL Combine he has gone under the radar although “all I need is a shot.”
“A little bit, yeah,” the former Iowa State quarterback said. “I’m not going to lie.”
That was on display in this year’s NFL Draft.

Purdy had to wait quite a while for a team to give him the shot he’s asking for, but it finally came with the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The San Francisco 49ers picked Purdy, who now has the annual Mr. Irrelevant nickname, with the 262nd overall pick.
The Gilbert, Ariz., native had average-to-below-average numbers among quarterbacks at the NFL Combine, and NFL.com’s draft profile of him gave him a “priority free agent” projection.
Purdy was an Associated Press All-Big 12 honoree in 2021 and broke the Iowa State records for passing yards, total offensive yards, completion percentage and touchdowns in his career.
He’ll likely be the third- or fourth-string quarterback for the 49ers, who already have Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance and Nate Sudfeld at the position.
