Two women who were killed in a shooting in rural Linn County Tuesday were identified Thursday as Debra Nadine Mayfield, 68, and Karie Jane Mayfield, 43, by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
A news release said that the women, a mother and daughter, were found dead at 2561 Jordan’s Grove R. after sheriff’s deputies were called at 9:28 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
The Sheriff’s Office did not say what led to the shooting and did not announce that any arrests had been made in relation to it. A witness was interviewed at the scene, and the Sheriff’s Office said there is no ongoing danger to the public.
