WATCH: Closing statements in Alexander Jackson trial

Alexander Ken Jackson, 22, is on trial for the murders of his father, Jan Perry Jackson, 61; mother Melissa Ferne Jackson, 68; and sister Sabrina Hana Jackson, 19, on June 15, 2021. The crime took place at the family’s Cedar Rapids home, 4414 Oak Leaf Ct. NE.

Jackson claims a masked intruder killed his family and shot him in the foot during a struggle over the murder weapon, a gun owned by the Jackson family. The prosecution argued that it was Jackson who killed his family members and then shot himself in the foot.

After hours of questioning, Jackson did not confess to the crime. He did not testify during the trial.

The defense argued that police investigation failed to capture evidence of the alleged intruder.

The jury began deliberations at 12:07pm CST on Jan. 24.
