Victim of robbery that led to officer assault is arrested
Jeff Raasch
Mar. 3, 2010 8:01 pm
Remember David Scanlon? The name sounded familiar to me when it showed up on the Cedar Rapids arrest log this week.
Then I remembered: Scanlon was mugged along First Avenue on the evening of March 29, 2009. It was this incident that brought Officer Tim Davis and partner Tracy Brumbaugh to the area.
What happened next with Davis has been well-documented.
Scanlon finds himself in a bit of hot water this week. Police arrested him Monday night at a residence on 40th Street NE after he allegedly tried to choke his ex-girlfriend and mother of his children. According to the police report, he pinned her against a couch and wrapped his arm around her neck after a disagreement over property.
Scanlon was charged with domestic abuse assault. He was taken to the Linn County Jail where he stayed until bonded out at 4:26 p.m. Tuesday, according to jail records.
Scanlon is a repeat-offender. He was also convicted of domestic abuse assault in 2007. He was sentenced to one year of probation, according to online court records.
The victim? You guessed it...the same woman.
David J. Scanlon
