Standoff in Eastern Iowa town ends after police seize man with gun

The seizure of an armed man has ended a standoff in the eastern Iowa town of Buffalo.
The Buffalo Police Department says officers were sent to a home about 6:30 p.m. Monday to check a report that a man armed a handgun was yelling obscenities in his backyard.
He went inside when the officers arrived.
Nearby homes were evacuated.
As officers tried to establish communication with the man, he went out the back door, displaying a handgun.
He was seized and then taken to a medical center for evaluation.
No shots have been reported. Police say charges are pending.
