Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401
A Saturday fire at a Cedar Rapids home has left two residents displaced and one seeking medical attention.
According to a news release the initial report of the fire, which occurred at 1605 K Ave, NE., stated it was on the outside of the structure. However, while en route dispatch indicated that the structure was 'fully involved.”
Upon arrival the structure had fire showing from all sides and floors, according to the release.
Firefighters made an exterior fire attack and protected surrounding homes. Once the fire was controlled, they entered the structure and were met with heavy fire in the attic. Because of the home's construction features, heavy fire load and time involved crews were evacuated and an aerial ladder truck was used on the outside of the home.
According to the news release, all areas and floors sustained heavy fire damage and both residents, who were home at the time of the fire, were displaced. One, an adult male, was injured.
The cause of the fire still is under investigation.
