Robberies at area banks and credit unions since 2005

Two financial institutions in Cedar Rapids have been robbed in the past eight days.
First, a man robbed Community Savings Bank, 3413 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, on Feb. 11. Six days later, an armed robber took cash from a teller at Linn Area Credit Union, 619 20th Ave. SW. Police arrested a man in the first heist, but no arrests have been made in the second one.
As we first reported in the Feb. 16 Gazette, Linn County State Bank has started using GPS-capable currency trackers in its bundles of money after two robberies in 2009. Will others follow their lead?
