Police say Iowa City man burglarized former employer

Apr. 30, 2014 12:21 pm
An Iowa City man is accused of burglarizing his former employer on three occasions, including twice on the same day.
According to the Iowa City Police Department, 33-year-old Robert D. Juhl III faces three counts of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony; and two counts of driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Police said Juhl was a former employee of Iowa City Tire, 410 Kirkwood Ave. Officers were called to the business for a report of a series of thefts from the business' storeroom. Police said an employee reviewed surveillance video and saw Juhl enter the business three times - twice on April 10 and once on April 14 - through a unlocked backdoor. The burglaries happened during business hours while employees and customers were inside.

On each occasion, Juhl took several used tires from the store and placed them in a vehicle. He later resold the used tires, police said.
Police said Juhl was observed at the business on two other occasions when he did not enter the business. Additionally, on two occasions - April 2 and April 3 - was observed driving to and from the business, despite having a barred license for being a habitual offender.
Juhl was arrested this week. Each Class C felony carries a potential 10 year prison sentence.
