Fayette County authorities chased a pickup at speeds of more than 100 mph early Monday morning before the driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
A deputy originally tried to stop the pickup for speeding around 12:15 a.m. on Highway 150 just south of Fayette, but the driver would not stop and accelerated. During the pursuit, the driver crossed through corn and bean fields, authorities said.
While the pickup was still moving in a corn field, the driver jumped out and tried to run, but was caught after a short foot chase.
Brayton R. Boyer, 20, of Saint Lucus, faces a felony charge of eluding, operating while intoxicated, speeding and possession of alcohol under the legal age.
Boyer was being held at the Fayette County Jail. There were no reports of injuries in the incident.
