NORTH LIBERTY - A potential standoff in North Liberty on Thursday afternoon was 'peacefully resolved,” city officials said, just over an hour after some businesses were evacuated and residents were warned to remain indoors.
According to a city news release at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, North Liberty police officers were called to help locate a man reported to have weapons Thursday afternoon. A pursuit ensued, devices were used to stop the vehicle, and the man ran from the car, the city said. Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies reported hearing shots fired.
Officers set up a perimeter around a building at the 300 block of Cherry Street, where the man was believed to be barricaded inside.
