IOWA CITY — A dispute between neighbors escalated to attempted murder Wednesday afternoon, police said.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, Antonio A. Jackson, 55, left his home at 1112 Hollywood Blvd. at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told police they saw Jackson run after a man who had been standing in the middle of the street.

Police said they spoke with Jackson, who admitted he “took things to the extreme.” The other man told police he thought he was being shot at by Jackson.
Jackson’s landlord told police that Jackson had called a week earlier and said he was going to shoot the man over a dispute.
A search warrant was executed at Jackson’s home. Police found marijuana wrapped in individual plastic bags, as well as a digital scale.
Police said Jackson has several felony convictions, which bar him from having a firearm. He was arrested and faces charges of attempted murder, a Class B felony; as well as going armed with intent, dominion of a firearm by a felon, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and controlled substance violation.
He remains in custody at the Johnson County Jail.
