Man performing ‘lewd acts’ in Iowa City reported to police

Iowa City police are looking for a 'suspicious” man who was seen watching women in residential areas and committing 'lewd acts.”
According to a news release, the Iowa City Police Department received two separate but similar reports Tuesday.
In the first incident, about 4:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Ronalds Street, a woman reported that she saw a man standing outside of a red truck parked in the back alley, watching her while she was outside of her home and committing a 'lewd act,” the release The woman went inside to call police, but the man left the area before police arrived.

About 9:45 p.m., police received a second report of a man with a similar description in the alley of the 1000 block of East College Street. A woman told police that a man was watching people and was possibly performing a lewd act, the release said. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the man.
The incidents are under investigation.
Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Anyone with information can call 358-TIPS (8477).
